BEFORE: A Bit of Housekeeping…

  • It’s ok if you want to do Step 1 & 2 and then take some time before going to Step 3. The awareness that comes up in the first steps is powerful, and you may not always be ready to dive right into the guided session with me. Give yourself the permission for some space, even a few minutes if you need to.

  • I encourage you to allow extra time after Step 3 (this is the core practice) to go easy on yourself and let the energy integrate. Don’t try and jam this in before heading off somewhere or hopping into a Zoom meeting. Oftentimes, people desire a short nap afterward or time to journal, etc. It’s also amazing to do Step 3 right before bed if that works well for your schedule and energy levels.

 STEP 3. Guided Healing Session (44 min)

Items you will need:

  • your answer from Step 2 (what is your struggle distracting you from feeling)

  • something soft you would enjoy hugging (i.e. pillow, blanket, stuffed animal, etc.)

  • earphones

  • quiet, uninterrupted space where you feel comfortable talking quietly to yourself + expressing emotions

Now What? Let Your Body Lead You

Life is an ongoing training ground and will always bring you the mirrors, expanders, and opportunities to stretch you and interrupt old energy patterns.

What does this mean for practice?

Simply, repeat steps 1, 2, and 3 often. Like any muscle, your emotional muscle can be weak or strong. It can be developed, balanced, and maintained with consistent practice. As it strengthens, your capacity for feeling more of these emotions grows. You become available for more of what you want.

Feeling (aka experiencing) your emotions does require practice and increasing your nervous system capacity. And that capacity will be developed over time. Doing this healing practice is a training, it’s like lifting weights for strength training your muscles. Your nervous system will start to expand its capacity to hold and experience more of all feelings. Especially the ones that feel scary, numb, daunting, or where you could be…if only...

Emotion Wheel

If you’re ever stumped and not receiving an “answer” as you tap, you can use this emotion wheel to help guide you. Look at the wheel as you tap and ask your question.

Sometimes it can be hard to find the right word or frequency of emotion (each emotion has its own frequency so sometimes one word just doesn’t “feel right”) and having a visual cue can be really beneficial.
